Write A Little Better
Screenwriting is both art and science
Screenwriting is both art and science.
A screenplay is a very technical document, a blueprint for producers to convert into a beautiful work of artistic accomplishment.
But they can’t build it without the blueprint: the idea, the structure, the texture, and subtext, or without the psychology of the story itself.
That’s the job of the screenwriter, to give the technical needs in a way which filmmakers can then do their own special magic. And make no mistake — it is very special and magical. But screenwriting is also art.
It is storytelling in a very brief, concise, visual, and impactful format.
And the one thing that must not get lost in all of the technicality involved — is a compelling story.
It’s time for screenwriters to stand up and become noticed.
Time for stories to shine, not just suffice.
It’s time for the Story to become more important than the visual elements of the film.
It’s time to reclaim our importance as storytellers — and not mere technicians.
It’s time to write a little better!
